Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Improves Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Myocardial Toxicity in Mice

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is an important pathogenic factor for sepsis which results in cardiovascular diseases and even mortality. Proanthocyanidin, one of the main components grape seed, has a wide range biological activities various diseases. The mouse model was established by intraperitoneal injection with LPS. Grape seed proanthocyanidin (GSP) administered continuously 8 days. Our showed that pre-treatment GSP dramatically ameliorated level creatine kinase (CK) lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) to defend against LPS-induced myocardial toxicity (p<0.01). Moreover, significantly mitigated expression matrix metallopeptidase 2 (MMP-2) 9 (MMP-9) inhibit fibrosis In addition, increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase (CAT) improve malondialdehyde (MDA) hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) Lastly, relieved tumor necrosis alpha (TNF-α) interleukin 6 (IL-6) prevent inflammatory responses
